I live and raise my 3 spirited daughters on 5+ acres in Colerain, and work for 3B Realty Group’s main office in Westside Cincinnati, OH. I spend most of my free time coaching girls volleyball, soccer, and basketball. I train in Crossfit and compete nationwide in obstacle course racing, including the OCR World Championship races; team and individual 2014, 2015. My favorite endurance event to date, however, has been my MS Bike 150: a 150 mile charity bike ride from Nashville to Lynchburg, TN and back, in honor of my beloved Aunt Maureen Champion Overbeck.
So with all this going on in my life, how did I get involved with Cupid’s? Well one day, years ago I remember watching the news coverage of people running through the city in their underwear. I remember clearly thinking that I would never in my life have the confidence to do that; to run in front of other people in just my underwear. The following January, I found out that one of my daughter’s friends has NF. And so on a very wild leap of faith, I registered with a group of friends. I decided I was going to make myself comfortable with being uncomfortable. There is a lot of growth in doing things you never thought you were capable of doing. So for the last 5 years I’ve worked very hard to recruit as many friends and family to try out this event.
Unlike the usual gala dinners, or silent auctions, etc… this event gives back as much or more to all those who participate. It simply sums up the win win of altruism, puts the fun in fundraising, the hilarity in charity, etc…. and that is right up my alley.
