At age 5, Rylie jumped down 3 stairs severely fracturing and displacing her R femur. She was taken to the OR and had her femur set. She was in a body spica cast for 12 weeks. At age 8, Rylie’s R foot had quit growing and was turning inward and her limp had worsened. We took her back to the Orthopedist that had treated her femur and he was concerned this didn’t have anything to do with her prior femur fracture. He ordered a complete spine MRI and Rylie was found to have a large tumor in her cervical spine from C2-C7. A brain MRI was then ordered and Bilateral Acoustic Neuromas were found and this is when Rylie was formally diagnosed with NF2. Rylie has had this same aggressive tumor in her neck removed 3 times in the last year. This has resulted in 8 additional surgeries from May-August. She had her vertebral artery embolized and her cervical spine fused from C2-T2. She completed 8 weeks of daily radiation treatments at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Rylie is not giving up this fight!!!
