Kelsey was diagnosed in November 2013, at age 3, with an Optic Glioma Brain Tumor, and mosaic NF. This tumor sits on her optic nerves, and causes severe damage to her vision. She is beyond legally blind, which means many things are much more difficult for Kelsey than they are for other children. There is no chance of regaining the vision that she has lost. There is no surgery or treatment that will bring this vision back, our hope is that she can keep the vision that she has. In the past 2 years, Kelsey has only had 8 WEEKS where she did not have chemo treatments. In August of this year, we finished a 60 week regimen, and were very excited to know that Kelsey would have at least 6 months without chemo. Our hopes were shattered when they eye doctor discovered in September that her vision has significantly declined in the past 6 months. We had to start a new treatment in October, and in January, we will start an even stronger chemo. She is truly a hero to all!
