I was only two weeks old when doctors told my parents I had NF, I grew up knowing and accepting anything that came along with it. I have had many ups and downs, but the worse was in 2010. I had tumors on my spinal cord which where not only causing copious amounts of pain, but causing me to lose function of my body. The tumors needed to be removed and even though I had many surgeries before nothing had been as serious as this. On July 22, 2010 I had surgery and I will never forget waking up from surgery and realizing I was alive and had beat those little “buggers.” It was going to take a lot more than that to stop me. NF is something I live with every day and like many people with NF, don’t know what a day without pain is. I am thankful I can still walk (run not so much) and join something like the Undie Run. I will not go down without a fight and even though there is no cure for NF, there could one day be! #endNF
