Adam Cowden

Adam is a 14 year old boy with Neurofibromatosis. On Wednesday, January 21, 2015 doctors discovered a massive tumor measuring 8cm by 12cm in Adam’s chest. The tumor has compromised his spine, ribs, and organs. Adam’s tumor is benign. We still have a rough road ahead. This large tumor has caused damage to his spine, malaligned his trachea, wrapped itself around the coronary artery, and there is a plexiform neurofibroma encompassing a nerve which permits use of the right arm. Surgery is not a matter of ‘if’, it is a matter of ‘when’. The wonderful thing is that he’s in no pain, going with the flow, and continues to be his witty self.
