Grace has always been my hero. Her smile, her wit, her incredibly goofy side which she readily shares, to her quiet and caring side that comes out when she sees someone who is sick and hurting. If there is a greater good that comes of having a child that undergoes hospital treatments and sickness, it may be that you see through their eyes the love and compassion that so many others have shown her.
We knew at an early age that Grace had NF. We took all the right steps in getting check ups and staying informed. It seemed to be of very little consequence, so it was with great shock and despair that we learned in April of 2011 that Grace had an optic nerve tumor that would need to be treated with chemo therapy.
Today- Stronger, Braver-
Grace sees herself as fortunate in so many ways, and often remarks at how bad she feels for other children who are sick. How strange it is to hear your child talk about “chemo” and “blood counts”. What an amazing spirit she has to conquer it all.
