Kene is my hero in so many ways. I was starting my first year of teaching and we shared the same first day at a new school. When he came to my class he communicated by pointing, crying, or yelling. At times he would get so frustrated he would hurt himself and hit his head. While he was in his previous school, he didn’t make friends because other students were afraid of him and how he looked. By the end of the school year, Kene was a completely new kid! He had a much better handle on his impulses, was writing full words, drawing, and TALKING! Kene is a great example of how someone can overcome the complications that NF can bring & I am proud to call him my hero!
