My wife Trish and daughter Maggie are my heroes. Both have NF, though Trish’s case has thankfully been far less severe, with no internal tumors. Maggie has given me the faith that we can survive anything. Maggie was diagnosed with NF at two months, with many tumors along her spine (C1 + C2) and brain after suffering a stroke at birth and a cardiac arrest at two months. Her doctors told us her prognosis was poor and that there was little we could do to improve her outcome. However after we brought Maggie home she has continued to fight and improve. She was able to completely wean herself off oxygen and far exceed anyone’s expectations. We now have the hope that she has the strength to survive the medical challenges ahead.
I’m running to help pay forward even a fraction of all the hope that we have received from our friends and family.
