Kyler, 12, was diagnosed with NF1 at his 6 week well baby check up. The diagnosis wasn’t a complete surprise as my then husband and mother-in-law had it. Kyler did not have any NF related issues until about 5 years of age. He started having severe migraines and things just started multiplying from there. Kyler has been officially diagnosed with a migraine disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, dysgraphia, fine/gross motor skill deficiencies. and chronic pain. Just a few months ago, we found out that he will need major surgery on both legs because both tibias are twisted and both hip joints are backwards. Kyler has endured numerous tests, MRIs, CT scans, and hospital stays. Kyler has suffered from pancreatitis 3 times and has dealt with kidney stones. Throughout everything, he is always such a trooper. He always has a smile and even though he is in severe pain, he will just keep on going. Kyler is my hero and he makes everyday so much brighter. I am so lucky I was chosen to be his Mom!
