WE WANT TO CRUSH NF.
Cupid’s Undie Run is proud to work in alliance with the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) because simply put – they are the best when it comes to NF research.
You already know that we’re fundraising for NF research and that your hard work and donations go a long way. But do you know how much NF research actually costs?
HERE IS HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO DEVELOP BREAKTHROUGH TREATMENTS FOR NF:
$5,000
The cost to add three patient’s genotype to the NF Registry. This addition is a huge step toward many clinical trial opportunities for patients.
$10,000
Drugs require synthetic creation in order to be properly tested. This $10,000 level represents an award for a lab to conduct Therapeutic Compound Research, which allows the synthesis of a previously analyzed drug or full analysis of a promising new compound to treat NF.
$100,000
The amount required for two young investigator award recipients to test a drug or move a previously vetted drug into a clinical trial format.
$300,000
Drug discovery requires meaningful animal model development (such as mice, pigs and fruit flies) to further drug discovery before it can safely move into treatment on humans. The average cost of an animal model is $300,000 and represents a pivotal step in successful NF treatment.
$500,000
The cost of a grant that supports a premier Neurofibromatosis laboratory for one year. A grant of this volume allows researchers the chance to pursue projects they wouldn’t normally have funding to execute and to explore potentially breakthrough hypothesis.
$1,000,000 – $3,000,000
The cost it takes to launch a multi-lab collaborative effort against a unique approach at NF research. The Children’s Tumor Foundation has coined these projects “Synodos“, and in turn stands as a pioneer in increasing the speed of research through this model.
$4,000,000
The estimated fundraising goal for Cupid’s Undie Run in the 2016 – 2017 season, and also the collective sum of the previous dollar amounts! Securing and fundraising consistent research dollars is vital for moving NF treatments forward. See what we can accomplish when we fundraise together as a nation?
$60 MILLION
THE COST TO BRING A DRUG FROM DISCOVERY THROUGH COMPLETION OF FDA APPROVAL. MIC DROP.
$60 Million is a staggering amount of money. But with our amazing support system and pantsless party animals out there fundraising, we’re on our way to meeting that goal.
