Abby has been fighting NF1 for all 18 years of her life. At age 4 she underwent a leg lengthening process for her left leg. She needed this because of a tumor growing in her right leg made it grow faster and longer, making it difficult to walk. This same tumor has grown up her right leg and is now also in her abdomen, wrapped around her bladder and mixed with her reproductive organs. There is no surgery that could remove it without grave repercussions. She lost her right leg below the knee 4 years ago from tumor complications. Then, 2 1/2 years ago she had a tumor reduction that almost cost her her life, and 1 1/2 years ago she had a 5cm tumor removed from her spinal cord, which left her temporary paralyzed from the chest down. She has always taken everything with stride. A friendly happy person, se often thinks of others first, and how bad they have it. She is a strong, tough young lady. She loves church, animals, nature, school, her family, and of course, her great team of doctors.
