When Colin was 2 months old he was hospitalized for Infant Botulism. During his time at the hospital a team of neurologists noticed he had multiple birth marks. One day the lead neurologist came and sat with us and said, completely unrelated to the Infant Botulism we think your son has Neurofibromatosis. We of course say, “What?” She said it a few more times for us and even wrote it down. The neurologist said after he is released from the hospital she would like to see him in the NF clinic. She then told us not to Google Neurofibromatosis. After Colin was discharged we called the NF clinic to make an appointment. In late November 2011 we took him to the NF clinic and our Colin was officially diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 aka NF1. For Colin, we are running in our underwear in the freezing cold to help bring awareness to this common disorder that no one has heard of. For Colin and for all those affected by NF, we are running for money for research. Together we can END NF!
