Hunter Irvine

Hunter was diagnosed with NF2 at 7 years old. Hunter is now 10 and just had his first surgery related to NF2. After traveling from our home town in Fort Lauderdale, FL to NIH, MGH in Boston, Mayo and finally UVA, in VA. We were told the tumor could not be removed so a tendon transfer was done to allow Hunter to resume all of his passions. Hunter is a professional saltwater angler. We are Young Guns Fishing Team and we fish from Key West to N.C.. This year Hunter has won the title of National Junior Angler! He loves fishing, swimming, diving, surfing, skimming and jet skiing. We live on the ocean and we work on the ocean. Hunter refuses to let NF2 define him, even with complete drop foot he managed to surf on the surf team all this summer and begged me to give him the summer before doing the surgery on his leg so that he could surf with his friends.
We are currently in a Study at NIH, our goal is to find a cure before NF2 takes away all the quality of life for our NF Hero!
