Jackson is 10 years old and in the 4th grade. As I also have the diagnosis, we quickly identified the signs and symptoms in him. Jackson has had a plexiform neuroma removed from his lip once, and will soon have to have it done again.
Owen is 7 years old and in the 1st grade. As with Jackson, we quickly identified the same signs and symptoms of NF1. He has many café au lait spots, and a few plexiform fibromas.
We are very fortunate, at this time, to have two happy, healthy happy boys who appear to be on the “milder” spectrum of NF.
I am inspired by the courage of others who face this disease and its complications. For me and my sons, I struggle to have the courage and bravery to face what may come with my own diagnosis and theirs. Nevertheless, we face this disease and its processes with hope and faith that a cure will be found!
